The "Supplication" Papercut - Work 44

Contact Us
The central motive of this work is inspired by the earliest known exilic drawing of the Temple. It is to be found above the Torah niche of the synagogue at Dura-Europos (in present day Syria and dating from the end of the second to beginning of the third century C. E.).

The text around the the work reads: "And he was filled with awe and said "How terrifying this place is for it is the house of the Lord". From this we ascertain that who ever prays in Jerusalem is considered to be praying before the heavenly throne at the gateway to the heavens wherein is an opening for all prayers." Ramban - Bereshit (Genesis)
