The "Jerusalem" Papercut - Work 6

Contact Us

The Jerusalem window sits at the center of this work at the top of which is engraved the following text: "All the rivers lead to the sea yet it is never full" (Ecclesiastes 1:7).

It is the inspiration for the Rabbinic text from Midrash Rabba Ecclesiastes (lower text): that while" the people of Israel go up to Jerusalem in pilgrimage (for the foot festivals) and congregate within its boundaries, Jerusalem is never overcrowded."

Size: 14.5" x 13" Year: 1993. 11 layers cut paper
