The "Honeycomb" Papercut - Work 97

Contact Us
Study of the Torah study and joyful acceptance of its laws gave Jews the moral strength to bear the bitterness of existence in the diaspora. The ability to read the Holy Texts was fundamental to the Jewish way of life.

Children began learning the alef bet at a very early age. In many communities, the initial learning process was literally sweetened by lightly smearing the pages of the Hebrew primer with honey. For this reason the artist has placed the central verse: "they also who dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid of they signs [letters]", Psalms 65:9 - in a honeycomb.
