Shfoch Chamatcha was added in the medieval period to update the Haggadah to modern times- in this case invoking the memory of such tragic events as the Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, and the Holocaust, and most recently the current battles in Israel. The word Shfoch is repeated over and over in blood red and literally pours down the page.
