The Jerusalem window sits at the center of this papercut which is encapsulated by the text from Midrash Rabba Exodus: And when He sees that (the people of) Israel are doing his commandments, he is consoled for what he had done to Zion and wishes to give them compensation. For it is said (Zechariah 8) “...I have returned unto Zion, and I will dwell in Jerusalem”. As David said (Psalms127) “...the Lord has ingathered his exiles”.
